Our biggest environmental and societal challenges require a diverse set of stakeholders to urgently co-create transformative solutions. This asks for analysis and research of both financial and non-financial resources into pioneering companies that help solve root causes and unlock economic benefits for co-creators participating and contributing to the transformation.
We will not get far by addressing symptoms or looking at one linear circularity approaches at a time, like recycling of recycled content alone.
Our guiding frameworks must be grounded in the long-term health of people and the planet, not short-term efficiency alone. Organizations and decision taking need to become SYSTEMICALLY CIRCULAR in all dimensions for us all to survive.

After my masters study as Materials Science and Technology Engineer in the Netherlands, I was seeking answers how to discard the world of nasty chemicals, waste, poor design protocols and polluting industries.
By coincidence I packed my bags and went-off to work for Michals Braungart’s EPEA office, focusing on a new eye-opening methodology on how to design circular, healthy products and services. Fueled by the scientific staff and implementation projects we worked on, I started to breathe positive intentions. I am profoundly grateful for the chance of being a co-developer of the Cradle-to-Cradle ® design principles and methodology.

Now, I had a clear scientific vision on how we design our material world: material circularity whilst using life-positively defined chemicals. My scientific journey could have stopped there, but curious as I am, I was drawn to the fact that many decisions are based on money.

For the initial wave of sustainability funds and indices I co-developed the screening methodologies and performed the ESG analysis for investment products. It was and still is fascinating to learnand aply the technical aspects of investment banking and asset management.
Showcasing the different layers of climate action in finance, I integrated the climate policy of one of Germany’s largest managers into their proxy voting policy and practices. This commitment ensures that climate performance is considered over the entire investment portfolio. Proxy voting can be a strong transformative tool.

The core dilemma now is not a lack of knowledge or available solutions, but a misalignment between the system we have built and the future we claim to seek. Achieving meaningful change requires confronting the assumptions embedded in our institutions. It means recognising that sustainability is not merely an environmental concern but a fundamental shift in how we conceptualise economic success and societal progress.
